Health Update #1
During a routine MRI in mid-June, the doctors found a growth on my liver. After further tests and a biopsy, they determined that the growth was cancerous. Over the past month, I have had several scans and procedures to identify and develop a treatment plan. I will have an important appointment with my oncologist on Monday, July 20th to review a recent PET scan and discuss when my chemotherapy will begin. This is not the news that anybody wants to share.
Currently my church is in a three-week series on Romans 8, which is my favorite scripture passage. As Paul wrote in Romans 8:28 that “All things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose”. I fully believe that God is using this diagnosis for my good. I am trusting in His promises, His providence, and that fact that He was not surprised by this news. As Paul continues in verse 29, God is using this diagnosis to continue to conform me into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.
If you are willing to pray, please pray that God will either use my doctors at Hopkins and medical means or his direct hand of healing in my life. I would appreciate prayers specifically for my appointment on Monday.
Please pray for my wife, Shree, and my three sons to find their strength and comfort in the Lord during this difficult time.
And finally pray that while I focus on my healing and recovery, that I will find new ways to minister as I desire this story to unfold ultimately for God’s glory!
